This village, with roots in early medieval times, is situated about 2 miles
east of Thame. It was presented in about 1160 to Richard de la Tours by the
Bishopric of Eye in Lincolnshire. The village is centred on the church, which
has a Saxon font, a Norman piscina, a 13th century chancel, and a Jacobean
pulpit. The only pub, The Three Horseshoes, is a typical yeoman's house and has
been extended through the centuries. There are a number of half-timbered
houses in the village that blend well with the more modern buildings.
