Swyncombe

The small rural parish of Swyncombe lies of the B480 Nettlebed to Watlington road. The 200 residents live in the scattered hamlets of Park Corner, Cookley Green, Swyncombe and Russells Water. Swyncombe affords glorious views over Oxfordshire from Swyncombe Downs and from Watlington Hill.

The Parish Church of St Botolph's is about a mile from Cookley Green. It dates from the 11th century, one of only 64 in the country so named. St Botolphs is set in the Chiltern Hills adjacent to the Ridgeway on which pilgrims have walked for centuries. Snowdrop Sunday when the snowdrops in the churchyard are in full bloom is an annual event held in February.
