Pishill is set in wooded country of steep slopes and sudden valleys. Its church was built in 1854 to replace a Norman predecessor. Close behind the old rectory is a thatched barn that possibly dates from the 13th century.
The small village of Stonor lies at the gates of Stonor Park, a vast wooded deer park surrounding the great house that has been the home of the Stonor family for over 800 years. The house and its chapel have been built and developed over the centuries since 1190.
