Horspath nestles between the Uplands of Shotover four miles south-east of Oxford. The oldest houses in the village date from the 16th century, part of the old manor house being built in 1582.
At the centre of the village is the beautiful village church, parts of which are late 12th century. According to village folklore, the two figures cut into the high tower arch are Jack London and his wife. The tower, which they funded, is their memorial.
