Holton

This small village lies in the locality of quarries that have, over the years, provided stone for the building of many of the Oxford colleges. Holton itself was largely built of this local stone. Holton Park, now a school, replaced the original manor house in 1808, being built alongside the moat that had surrounded its predecessor. The old Park Wall circuits the village and remains a link with the past. Holton Church is dedicated to St Bartholomew and dates from the 12th century.
