Harpsden is set amid wooded countryside that extends to Harpsden Bottom and Mays Green. The village church, despite rebuilding in the 19th century, still contains much Norman work. Harpsden Court, of 15th century origin, was remodelled in the late 18th century. The walls of nearby barns are made from old wallpaper making blocks. Harpsden has a very attractive cricket ground and the 18 hole Henley Golf Club lies within the parish. The Old Rectory was the home of Jane Austen's grandfather and was visited by her in 1799. Two Roman villas have been found, one on the Golf course and one in High Wood.
