Aston Rowant

This is one of a string of villages that evolved along the spring line at the foot of the Chiltern Hills. There has been habitation since at least the early Anglo-Saxon period.

The recently beautifully restored church of St. Peter and St. Paul is a flint building with stone dressings, part of which date from the late 11th century. The village has a neo-Tudor coaching inn, The Lambert Arms, which opened in 1834. There is a picturesque village green with a thriving brick and flint school, built in 1844. Aston is in an excellent area for walking.
