Decision
Refusal of Planning Permission on 21st August 2025
Conditions / Refusal Reasons
The proposed garage structure would not appear subservient in the street scene, it is sited forward of the defined building line, forming an incongruous and prominent feature at the site, which would detract from the existing character of the host dwelling and the character of the surrounding local area, contrary to policies STRAT1, DES1 and DES2 of the South Oxfordshire Local Plan 2035 and technical guidance set out in the South Oxfordshire and Vale of White Horse Joint Design Guide 2022 (JSVDG).
The proposal is also unacceptable as it would create a dominate visual intrusion within the street scene sited considerably forward of the dwellings which would impact adversely on the neighbouring occupier's amenity, contrary to Policy DES6 of the South Oxfordshire Local Plan 2035 and technical guidance set out in the South Oxfordshire and Vale of White Horse Joint Design Guide 2022 (JSVDG).
