Decision
Refusal of Planning Permission on 2nd May 2025
Conditions / Refusal Reasons
The proposed car port would not appear subservient to the existing dwelling, being sited forward of the defined building line, and forming an incongruous and prominent feature at the site, which would detract from the existing character of the host dwelling and the character of the surrounding local area, contrary to policies STRAT1, DES1 and DES2 of the South Oxfordshire Local Plan 2035 and technical guidance set out in the South Oxfordshire and Vale of White Horse Joint Design Guide 2022 (JSVDG).

The proposal would impact adversely on neighbouring amenity at No.4 Roman Road by virtue of loss of light, outlook, overshadowing, and potential disturbance, contrary to Policy DES6 of the South Oxfordshire Local Plan 2035 and technical guidance set out in the South Oxfordshire and Vale of White Horse Joint Design Guide 2022 (JSVDG).
