Decision
Refusal of Listed Building Consent on 19th December 2024
Conditions / Refusal Reasons
The infill panels that made up the dining room/kitchen wall, in addition to some of the timber posts and part of the sole plates are likely to have been original to the building. The application lacks information on the age and historic significance of the door which has also been removed. The cupboards along the wall adjacent to where the kitchen/dining room internal door opening would have been alters how people circulate and use this space and disrupts the way in which the historic plan form of the dwelling is understood. The removal of the historic fabric / majority of the wall between the kitchen and dining room areas is irreplaceable. The loss of historic fabric along with the revised layout results in harm the special historic and architectural interest of the asset and detracts from its character without convincing justification, contrary to polices ENV6 and ENV7 of the South Oxfordshire Local Plan 2035 Chapter 16 of the National Planning Policy Framework and Sections 66 and 72 of the Planning (Listed Building and Conservation Areas) Act 1990.
