Decision
Refusal of Planning Permission on 20th December 2024
Conditions / Refusal Reasons
The District Council considers that the proposed dormer window would be of an inappropriate scale and design within the context of the area, eroding what remains of the historic roof form across the rear of the terrace. Furthermore, the proposed front rooflight would add a further visual interruption into the historic roofscape, within a street where there are strict development controls in place in order to preserve the special historic character of the area. The proposal would therefore conflict with the design objectives of the development plan and it would fail to preserve the character and appearance of this part of the conservation area, contrary to Policies DES1, DES2, ENV6 and ENV8 of the South Oxfordshire Local Plan 2035, Policy SD3 of the Joint Henley and Harpsden Neighbourhood Plan and advice within the National Planning Policy Framework.
