The proposed garage, by reason of its position forward of the dwelling and its scale and height, would form a prominent and intrusive feature in the street scene and would detract from the character and appearance of the site and surrounding area. As such, the proposed development would be contrary to Policies DES1, DES2, and ENV1 of the South Oxfordshire Local Plan 2035, the advice in the South Oxfordshire Design Guide and the National Planning Policy Framework and Policy RD1 of the Sonning Common Neighbourhood Plan 2023.
