Decision
Refusal of Planning Permission on 25th April 2019
Conditions / Refusal Reasons
Given the design, scale and position of the detached garage to the front of the dwelling the proposal would form a prominent feature within the existing street scene. Detached outbuildings forward of the front elevations are not characteristic of this part of the settlement, and the proposed garage would be out of character with the pattern of development in the immediate vicinity of the site, and would fail to conserve the natural beauty and distinctiveness of the Chilterns Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. As such, the proposal would be contrary to Policies CSEN1 and CSQ3 of the South Oxfordshire Core Strategy and Policies G2, D1 and H13 of the South Oxfordshire Local Plan 2011 and advice contained within the South Oxfordshire Design Guide 2016 and the National Planning Policy Framework.
